Yggdrasil in Finland through a partnership with Veikkaus

Veikkaus, the Finnish gambling monopoly, has teamed up with the creator and content provider for the online gambling industry Yggdrasil.

After successfully integrating its Veikkaus offerings, Yggdrasil now has access to Finland’s regulated Finnish gaming space.

In October 2018, Veikkaus announced that it had signed content supply agreements for online casinos with some of the largest software providers, including NetEnt and Yggdrasil. This announcement revealed that the gaming monopoly plans to focus more on its digital gaming operations, rather than the retail business. Over the summer, the company released a selection of NetEnt’s most popular offerings.

Veikkaus is the only company authorized to provide gambling services in Finland. Last spring, it announced that it would spend four and eight million Euros to rearrange its digital branch and adapt it to the growing demand for high-quality online gambling.

This step can also be interpreted as an attempt by Veikkaus to compensate for the growing competition from international companies engaged in online games and sports betting, which continue to serve Finnish players, even if they are not eligible.

Digital Improvement

Commenting on adding a list of games for online casinos from Yggdrasil, Veikkaus casino president Jan Hagelberg said: “Our customers are increasingly choosing games on the Internet and on mobile devices, and we are pleased to be able to add an impressive Yggdrasil portfolio.”

Yggdrasil CEO Fredrik Elmqvist added: “Veikkaus is one of the largest gaming operators in Europe and very famous in the industry. We are pleased to offer its large and rapidly growing customer base our portfolio of innovative casino games.”

Yggdrasil has recently unveiled its great novelty, the Splitz game mechanics. For the first time, players will learn about the innovative feature in the new Temple Stacks release from a content studio that, thanks to modern mechanics, offers over 248,000 ways to win.

As part of its gambling renewal program, Veikkaus also recently hired SBTech, a sports betting technology provider, to support its online betting department. Earlier this year, SBTech won the public procurement process to ensure a multi-year partnership with the Finnish gaming monopoly and help it raise and improve the offer it provides to Finnish players.

Under the terms of the deal, SBTech will integrate its sports betting platform into the Veikkaus online channel and will launch a completely new regulated Finnish sports bookmaker in early 2020. The technology provider will also provide a retail network for the gambling operator.

The partnership between SBTech and Veikkaus aims to completely update the existing operator services for betting before the match and during the game, as well as provide its customers with the opportunity to choose from more than 55 sports and more than 2000 betting markets.
